Show Cedar City Livestock Grower Named Cattleman of Month I A distinctive honor of being chosen as Utah Cattlemen's Association As-sociation Cattleman for the month of February was bestowed on an energetic man of Cedar City, Richard Leigh. Each month an outstanding cattleman In the state is selected select-ed to receive this honor and the activities and background of the recipient is written up in the organization's monthly maga- zine. The magazine points out that "... he is young in years, but with a wealth of experience behind be-hind him experience necessary neces-sary to run the family business of Leieh Livestock Co. Explaining the operation of the Livestock Co. the article states that It "consists of 20,000 teres of desert, foothill and mountain range. All of the land s under fence. The operation has a small herd of sheep In ad- ditlon to Its cattle interests.' Theirs is a cow-calf setup with 'he bulk of the yearlings marketed mar-keted as feed cattle. All lambs ire marketed as fat lambs. round 1G0 acres of Irrigated 'anri produces grains and what hay Is needed." In addition to his business "Dick" is active In the UCA and civic organizations. He has served serv-ed as county commissioner, dl--octor of the Southern Utah Livestock show and as a director of the Chamber of Commerce. He is now a member of the Bureau of Land Management advisory board for this area. |
