Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES Mrs. Helma Lamoreaux The local P. T. A. officers called call-ed a meeting of the townspeople for Wednesday evening of last week to meet with the School Board members and Superintendent Superinten-dent Ianthus Wright. The subject sub-ject was the future of the Para- gonah school. Principal Max Dal-ley Dal-ley of the Parowan High School and Don Applegate, head of the Pa;owan Elementary School, were also present to take part in the discussion. The issue of taking all the Paragonah school students to Parowan is a very controversial subject and opinions arc divided. Wednesday's meeting was to discuss dis-cuss the possibilities and the School Board expressed the wish to make the move to be effective the first of the next school year. Economy measures and wider range of subjects for seventh and eighth grade students were factors considered. Kogardicss 01 tne advantages indicated, many feel that the proposed move would be a distinct dis-tinct loss to the community as a whole and should be postponed just as long as possible. A number of Paragonah people peo-ple traveled to Milford Friday evening to attend the wedding of Miss Marie Barton and Ted Brad-shaw Brad-shaw and also the reception which followed. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Barton. Among those who went for the wedding festivities were the Ivan Robb family, Mrs. J. Lowe Barton Bar-ton and son J. Lowe Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund and daughter, Gayle, Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell, Mrs. Betty Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Li'r.d. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux were here fnm St George Wednesday Wed-nesday of last week to see Mr. William L. Davenport, who was in the hospital. They came on to Paragonah for an overnight visit vi-sit with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson and returned home Thursday. Mrs. Delores Robinson and son David arrived home from Salt Lake City Thursday. They had spent two weeks In the city and the boy was In the Children's Hospital for most of that time. He is reported to be much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Barton and daughter, Phyllis of Milford, were Sunday visitors to Paragonah Parago-nah where they spent the day visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Mario Stones and two children of Ogden arrived ar-rived here Friday for a week end visit with the D. Ama..a Stones family. On Sunday the entire Stones family enjoyed a get-together and over 20 members had supper at the family home. Members of the group from Cedar City Included In-cluded Mr. and Mrs. Mario Stones and children, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Green a;id small son and the Carlyle Mitchell family. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Alan Stones. Mr. and Mrs. Martell Easton of Beaver and their daughter, Mrs. Dean Hunger and her three children were Sunday visitors at the D. A. Stones home. Asa Topham returned home from the Iron County Hospital on Friday after a successful operation op-eration on his leg and a few days' stay in the hospital. Mrs. Viola LeFevre, who was here from Salt Lake City during lier father's illness, has returned home with her young son. Mrs. Gwen Jones left for St. George on Sunday to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Englestead. Together Togeth-er they planned to travel to Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev., to visit with other family members. Buyd and Hazel Jean Robinson welcomed a lovely new daughter at the Iron County Hospital Wednesday, Wed-nesday, April 19th Mrs. Robinson Robin-son and little Tammy were brought home from the hospital Monday. William T. Davenport returned home on Monday after undergoing under-going an operation the first of last week. He appears to be making an excellent recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Davenport and the Kay Lamoreaux family, spent Sunday in Richfield where they went to visit with Mrs. Davenport's neice, Mrs Rosemary Watters and her family. Mr. and Mrs. Humbert Rosenberg Rosen-berg and family came from Cedar Ce-dar City to spend Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Davenport and other family members. Mitchell Robinson was here from Cedar City from Friday to Monday with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Edwards arrived home Wednesday of last week after being away for the past five months. When they left Paragonah, they went to Portland, Port-land, Oregon, where they visited with their son Clifford and his family for a month, fallowing that, ihey traveled to California where they visited the Max Edwards Ed-wards family in Redding, the Bert Bingham family ii Anderson, Ander-son, Miss Tammy Joy Bingham in Berkley, and Mrs. Hazel D'-Angelo D'-Angelo and family in Los Angeles. Ange-les. They also spent some time with friends In Sacramento and with them, enjoyed a trip to Reno, Susanvil'o and Westwood. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards had lived in Westwood for a good many years before returning to Paragonah Para-gonah to make their home some years ago. Seminary instructor Gary Bas-comb Bas-comb and some of his students occupiea me time in sacrament meeting on Sunday. Talks were given by Vicky Worthern, Lois Ann Butcher, Jerry Talbot and Mr. Bascomb. A vocal duet was sung by Winon Holyoak and Sandra Mitchell. Sherry Wheat-ley Wheat-ley and Lamarr Anderson gave the prayers. The Primary organization presented pre-sented a fine program, 'The Gospel Gos-pel Path," In the Ward Chapel on Sunday evening. A good crowd of parents and friends were there to enjoy the children's presentation. presenta-tion. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Talbot and their three children arrived in town Friday evening to spend the week end visiting with their folks the T. A. Robinsons and Renford Talbot families. Th visitors returned to Salt Lake CI- ty on Sunday. Daughters of the Utah Pioneers meeting held last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Idella Robinson I was well attended and included an interesting meeting. Lesson ! material was presented by M'-s, I Lula Bastian, and Mrs. Alice Robinson Rob-inson gave the history of her father, Alexander Robb, who was a convert to the church from Austria. Miss Karen Edwards of Cedar City was here to spend the week end with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson. |
