Show School Board Hires Maintenance Supervisor; Special Session Studies Paragonah Issue I j Howard Ward, Parowan, mechanical mech-anical inspector on the College of Southern Utah Science building build-ing presently under construction, an experienced electrician, plumber plum-ber and building inspector, was named by the Board of Education Educa-tion this week as supervisor of Building and Grounds of all schools in the Iron County School District. Mr. Ward has worked as a licensed li-censed electrician and plumber for many years, and has served as building inspector on a number num-ber of important construction projects, pro-jects, gaining a wide experience in the work needed to fill the newly established position in the cthnnl HicttHpf His new position places him in charge of maintenance and developments de-velopments on buildings and grounds of all schools in the district, dis-trict, and in charge of repairs to buildings when necessary. His appointment was approved at a special meeting of the Board of Education held last week. The board met at Paragonah where they discussed the possibility possi-bility of closing the Paragonah School and transporting students to Parowan where better facilities facili-ties and much better educational advantages are available. Following Fol-lowing the discussion, the people present voted 29 to 17 against the proposal made by the school board. The objection to the proposal pro-posal voiced by the residents of the community seemed to be based rather on the importance to community life of maintenance mainte-nance of the school than on the education benefits of the children. child-ren. Robert Gardner, architect for the new Cedar City High School, met with the board for further discussion of tentative plans for the new school.
