Show Xumen Gardner To Aid State Finance Group A second appointment to assist as-sist the State service and Finance Committee was announced this week by Sheldon R. Brewster, ' Speaker of the House of Representatives Repre-sentatives and chairman of the committee. This week Representative Ku-men Ku-men Gardner of Cedar City was asked to assist the committee in an investigation to bring about possible legislation in 1960 to correct a number of deficiencies in the present state set up. Earlier Rep. Brewster had asked ask-ed the assistance of Sen. Charles R. Hunter, also of Cedar City, to work with the committee. In his communique with Rep. Garldner the committee chairman chair-man stated that the purpose of the committee study was to Investigate In-vestigate the expenditures of the various state offices in hopes of arriving at a series of recommendations recommen-dations for possible legislation In 1960. Five specific items were Included In-cluded in the proposed study of the state agencies as follows: 1 Need for services performed; 2 efficient use of manpower; 3 utilization of modern equipment and all modern facilities; 4 strength of fiscal control and administrative ad-ministrative decisions, and 5 overlapping of services. It Is hoped by the committee that through this study means of economy In our state government govern-ment can be recommended to the state legislature. Inclusion of Rep. Gardner to this committee will bring dtl-sons dtl-sons of southern Utah In closer touch with the state and state program, it was felt by the committee. com-mittee. Serving with Chairman Brews-ter Brews-ter on the committee are Senator Sena-tor Glen M. Hatch and Dilworth S. Wooley. |
