Show Mrs. Violet Ann Wood Succumbs; Final Rites Thursday Afternoon Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Ann Jones Wood, 85, will be held this afternoon, Thursday, April 16, In the Cedar Third Ward Chapel. Cha-pel. Mrs. Wood died Monday after af-ter suffering a stroke on April 4. Mrs. Wood was born in Cedar City on March 4, 1879, a daughter daugh-ter of John Lee and Rachael ;Simkins Jones of Enoch. She resided re-sided in Enoch until moving to Cedar City as a young woman to , help with the family of her brother bro-ther Samuel B. Jones, whose wife ! had died and left seven small j children. She was always active in affairs af-fairs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities including two terms as president of the Primary, Prima-ry, president of the MIA, Council ' member in the Relief Society, and I for many years as Sunday School I and Relief Society teacher. j She married Conroy Wood in j the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 2, 1906. Mr. Wood died April 16, 1947. Survivors include two sons. Or-ville Or-ville J. Wood, Salt Lake City; Wourth Wood, Cedar City; two daughters, Mrs. Farrel (Gertrude) Gudmundson, Bountiful, and Mrs. Ben (Luana) Riddle, San Diego, Calif. Also surviving Is Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph (Bettridge) a neice, whom Mrs. Wood raised from child hood; sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, bro-thers, James S. Jones, St. George; Myron S. Jones, Enoch; three half brothers, George Jones, Cedar Ce-dar City; Willard Jones, Enoch; Reuben Jones, Portland, Ore., and j three half -sisters, Grace Smith, Bountiful; Blanche Richards, St. George and Ida Davenport, Springville. |
