Show Knife and Fork Club to Hear Humorist ?: f . I ED HAFI'ING The customary serious discussion dis-cussion of world affairs is to be sidetracked when members of the Escalante Knife and Fork Club meet Wednesday evening at the College of Southern Utah Student Center. And, doing the side tracking will be the nation's number one humorist, Edmund Harding from down Washington, North Carolina, way. Given the appellation of D. L. (Doctor of Laughter) by the many ma-ny audiences he has addressed over the score of years he has been serious about the funny side of life. Harding is said to have accumulated a fund of stories stor-ies for every pleasant occasion. He is said to relate them at the rate of one per minute. Rapid Fire Jokes "Laughter is like a ball; once it gets started frequent little pushes keep it going smoothly along", he remarks sagely when asked about his speed of story telling. - Harding Wasn't always been a humorist; and that isn't his only endeavor now. He has at times been a tobacco auctioneer, writer, newspaper man and retailer. At present he is engaged in the insurance agency business. But the journey wasn't made to study international conditions con-ditions he insists, "I dug around In some of the archives over there to get some funny stories. Believe me, before the Germans invaded Czechoslovakia about 20 yeara c, there were a lot of funny things going on." |
