Show MEMBER ADVISORY TEAM " ff Southern Utah Foundation Dates I ! Expert on Smoking at Public Meet I Of interest to all Iron County residents is the announcement by the Southern Utah Foundation of the scheduling of Dr. Walter J. Burdette to speak at a public meeting on the subject: "Smoking "Smok-ing Contemporary Dilemma." This meeting will be held in the new Cedar City High School Auditorium, Au-ditorium, Saturday, May 2, at 8 p. m. There will be no admission charge and everyone is invited to attend. Dr. Burdette is currently division divi-sion head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah College of Medicine. He holds the unique position of being one of the ten distinguished scientists scien-tists In America who served on the Advisory Committee on Smoking Smok-ing and Health. This committee worked under the direction of Surgeon General Luther L. Terry of the U. S. Public Health Service and recently published their 385 page report dealing with the relationship re-lationship between smoking and cancer, emphysema, heart and circulatory diseases, etc. This re- port has created widespread In- I terest and concern throughout the nation. m Cedar City is very fortunate In B securing the services of Dr. Bur- dette to discuss this important and current problem. Other groups supporting the foundation in this endeavor include: in-clude: The Youth Council, Teen Council, Cedar City Coordinating Council, Iron County Cancer Society, So-ciety, the P. T. A., Southern Utah Medical Association, the L. D. S. Seminary and Institute and other church groups. |
