Show Redmen Baseball Team Wallops BY High, Moves Into State Semi-Final Game Today Cedar High School Redmen moved Into the state semi-finals in the Class B baseball playoffs Thursday, May 7 when they defeated de-feated the BY High 11 to 0 In an unexpected pushover contest Today, Thursday, the Redmen meet North Sanpete High School in the semi-final game to be played on the local diamond and the winner of that contest will move into the state finals against the winner of the Notre Dame High of Price and Judge Memorial of Salt Lake City semi-finals semi-finals being played at Price. Cedar High blasted off with two hits In the first Inning and 'two tallies to take an initial ' lead against BY High last Thursday Thurs-day and they added tallies In all but one Inning. Gary Anderson chalked up the victory, pitching a two-hitter against the reportedly strong hitting BY High club. He gave one hit in the second and, another an-other in the sixth and allowed two walks. A fifth man got on base when he was hit by a pitched pitch-ed ball. The Redmen collected 11 runs on as many hits. Sam Chamberlain Chamber-lain led in the hitting department depart-ment with three in three trips, lone a double, only extra base hit for Coach Bruce Decker's Redmen. Larry Smith and Eric Gardner each added a pair of singles along with hits by Sieve Cahoon, Leigh Rosenberg, Anderson Ander-son and Phil Yergensen. Second and sixth innlr.gs were the big ones for the Red-men Red-men as they pushed over three runs in each of those frames. They collected only two hits, however, In the second, and pounded cut five iug!c in the ixtli. Location of the state finals will be determined following the semi-final playoffs. |
