Show Five Scouts Win Eagle Awards At Court of Honor The monthly Court of Honor for Boy Scouts of the Brian Head District was held Sunday evening, eve-ning, Dec. 26 in the Third Ward Chapel. Troop 343 of that ward was in charge of the opening exercises. In regular honor court activities, activi-ties, three advancements were made, all going to scouts of Troop No. 3-19, Second Ward. Gary Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Jones, and Craig Rowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rowley Row-ley received advancement to the rank of Life Scouts and Craig Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson was advanced to Star Scout. In addition to the advancements 12 merit badges were awarded to scouts of the districts. Following the reguar presentations presen-tations of awards a very impressive impres-sive program was held in which five young men of the district received their coveted Eagle Awards. Conducting this portion of the program was Newel Wasden. Scouts representing the six ranks of scouting read brief statements applicable to each rank. They were David Applegate, tenderfoot; tender-foot; Mark Christenaen, second class; Kip Stones, first class; Jimmy Rasmussen, Star; Douglas Robinson, Life, and Fred Orton, Eagle. Mr. Wasden then introduced the Eagle candidates and their parents: Craig Stubbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stubbs; Larry Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Day; Ronald Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Johnson; Jerry Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Robinson, and Dale Hulet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Hulet. Scoutmasters, assistant scoutmasters scout-masters and troop committee members were also recognized. Tom Harris of the district committee com-mittee gave a short talk on the Eagle rank in scouting; yi? Adams, scoutmaster of Second Ward Troop, spoke on the responsibilities re-sponsibilities of an Eagle Scout. The awards were then presented to each boy with pins pinned on by the mothers and then each mother receiving a miniature pin from her son. Bishop Verl Taylor read a short poem on attaining the Eagle rank and President Howard D. Knight read "A Charge to Eagles." Ea-gles." George Banks of the district dis-trict committee read a letter of congratulations to each of the boys from the National Council of Boy Scouts of America. The next Court of Honor for the Brian Head District was an-inounced an-inounced for Sunday, Jan. 23 to ibe held in the Enoch Ward chapel cha-pel at 7:30 p. m. |
