Show LIVING IN THE ESCALANTE VALLEY Mrs. Georgia MoyU CHRISTMAS PARTY A group of Escalante Valley Women from sections including Newcastle, Modena and Enterprise, Enter-prise, gathered at the home of club member Mrs. Phyllis Wood, prior to Christmas for the annual Christmas party given by the outgoing officers for 1965 of the Valley Women's Club, who were as follows: Thyllis Wood, president; presi-dent; Georgia Moyle, vice president; presi-dent; Mildred Peterson, secretary and treasurer, and Mae Pickerel, corresponding secretary. These women will be succeeded for tne year of 1966 by Mary Moyle, president; pre-sident; Mildred Peterson, vice president; Edith Force, secretary and treasurer; Pat Moyle, corres ponding secretary. The ladies enjoyed an evening of Christmas games and fun prior to serving of refreshments and the unwrapping of their gifts, which were designated to each person present by drawing numbered num-bered snowmen from a small tree. All enjoyed a festive evening. even-ing. LIONS CHRISTMAS PARTY The annual Christmas party sponsored by the Lions Club, with menbers of the Parowan and other clubs as invited guests. A turkey dinner was served followed fol-lowed by dancing at the Valley Community building. Dinner was prepared and served by Mrs. Alice Hall of Enterprise, aided by Mr. and Mrs. Alpine Bowler, Larue Donnelly. Esther Pickering, Winnell Bracken, Joann Hunt and Dema Randall. The community building represented the Christmas Christ-mas season both Inside and out with Santa, sleigh and reindeer on the roof, ceiling decoration within and a lighted tree both inside and out. The group enjoyed Christmas carol singing with Mrs. Boyd Christensen at the piano. The orchestra was from Dixie. CHRISTMAS OPERETTA A Christmas operetta entitled "A Penny For Christmas", was presented pre-sented by the achool on December Decem-ber 22. Christmas carol singing was by the school children, following fol-lowing the operetta, after which Santa Claus bounded In with his sleigh bells and pack on his back. This was sponsored by the PTA and each child received a generous gener-ous sack of candy and nuts, while the adults were treated to candy. A beautiful doll, with a lovely wardrobe was won by Mrs. Lister Wood. Thanks Is extended from all to the Cedar City Elks Club and Mel Ence for their part in the PTA party. CHURCH AND CHRISTMAS A very touching Christmas play was presented by the Baptist church group after which everyone every-one was served refreshments, a-long a-long with the children's Christmas Christ-mas treat. A group of the Valley Baptist Church attended the banquet held at Cedar City on Dec. 18. The Baptist group Is headed by Rev. Carl Parrish. |
