Show j CSU Professor Granted Leave to Work With National Science Foundation Program Head Dr. Wesley P. Larsen, Profes-, sor of Biology at College of Southern Utah, has been granted a two-year leave of absence to ' work with the National Science Foundation as Associate Program Director of the Pre-College Course Content Improvement Program Pro-gram In the Division of Pre-College Education in Science, it was announced by Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite, CSU president. Dr. Lar . - will begin work on his new issignrnent in January in Wash .ipi-m, D. C. headquarters headquart-ers of NSK. He and Mrs. Larsen have moved to the nation's capital capi-tal In preparation for their stay there. Dr. Larsen received BA, MA, and PhD degrees from Univer-siy Univer-siy of Utah and served as a NSF College Science Faculty Fellow at the U of U and Stanford Uni-iversity. Uni-iversity. Before joining the CSU I faculty in 1960 he was Director 1 of Science and Instructor in biol-logy biol-logy at College of Eastern Utah. I At CSU he has conducted re. search for four years as a principal prin-cipal investigator for the Atomic Energy Commission. He also worked with the A EC at the Enl-wetok Enl-wetok Biological Marine Station during the summer of 1963. He has served as entomologist for the Del Monte Packing Company Com-pany and consultant for Dow Chemical Corporation. Dr. Larsen is past vice-president of the Utah Education Association As-sociation and past president of the Utah Nature Study Society He is presently editor of NATURE NEWS NOTES, official publication publica-tion of UNSS. He is also a director di-rector of the Zion Park National History Association. A number of articles on experimental ex-perimental embryology by Dr. Larsen have been published In professional science publications. He has been active in community com-munity affairs havlne served as regional director of the Science Fair of Southeastern Utah and j associate director of the Science j Fair of Southern Utah. He is a hoard member of the Iron County Council on Aging and a board ' member and participant In the Visiting Scientists Program. He has also served as chairman of the Health and Sanitation Committee Com-mittee of the Iron Couny Coord-ining Coord-ining Council. He Is membi r of the Cedar City Rotary Clu j and Elks Lodge. |
