Show Cedar Redmen Deieat Parowan and South J Sevier Teams for First Double Victory The Cedar High Redmen broke precedent this past week when they picked up back to back victories vic-tories in preseason basketball action. Wednesday evening the Red-men Red-men were at Parowan where they squeaked out a 48 to 45 victory vic-tory over the Rams. Thursday, iiowever, they returned to the home couri to pick up the scoring scor-ing tempo and emerge with a 64 to 47 victory over South Sevier. Se-vier. The victories gave the Redmen a 6-3 record. The Parowan Rams gave the Redmen quite a tustle in the battle bat-tle Wednesday with a sticky 'zone defense that cut down the I Redman scoring considerably. The 48 point output for the Red-' Red-' men was their lowest of the season sea-son and it almost proved fatal as the Rams kept pace through most of the game. The Redmen took a slight edge at the quarter mark 13 to 10 but the Rams with Larry Smith leading the way knotted it up at 22 all at the intermission. intermis-sion. In the second half of play the Redmen held a. slieht eiiee tnrougnout but never oy a comfortable com-fortable margin. Scott Nelson led the scoring tor the Kedmen with 14 points, followed closely by Russell Shirts at the forward spot with 13 points. Shirts led in fieldgoals with six while Nelson Nel-son picked up six of his points from 11 attempts at the foul line. Smith of Parowan led all scorers with 15 points including five from the field and a perfect mark at the foul lane with five of five. Thursday evening the Redmen were in better shape throughout as they led the Rams of South Sevier throughout. Taking an early lead the Redmen maintained maintain-ed the lead from start to finish and were never in serious trouble troub-le as they pumped in 64 points. The victory Thursday marked the first time this season that the Redmen had won back to back games and it gave the Red-men Red-men a commendable record going go-ing into the final week of action before league play gets underway under-way in January. .
