Show Steve Asmus Called To Salt Lake For Father's Funeral, Steve Asmus, manager of Bulloch's Bul-loch's Coffee Shop, was called to Salt Lake City last week end be-, cause of the death of his father, Cornelius Asmus, 71. Mr. Asmu3. who was living alone at his home in Salt Lake City, was found dead Saturday morning when a daughter went to the home to help him with the care of the house and to prepare pre-pare a meal for him. He had apparently ap-parently died sometime Friday evening, while sitting watching television. The television set was on when the daughter arrived and her father was sitting so naturally in front of the set that at first she thought nothing was wrong. Mr. Asmus was born on Jan. 26, 1885, at Dordrecht, Netherlands, Nether-lands, a son of Stephanus and Anna Asmus. He married Jozlna van de Watering on May 18, 1905. at Dordrecht. He was a member of the LDS Church, and at the time of his death was senior president pres-ident of the 10th Quorum of Seventies, Sev-enties, and was a Liberty Stake missionary. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Steve As-mus, As-mus, Cedar City; Harry, Woodrow and Norman Asmus, Mrs. R. ,C. Bllllngsley, and Mrs. William Mathews, all of Salt Lake City; Cornelius J. Asmus, Vernal; Mrs. Elmer Prechtel, Crestwell, Ore; Mrs. Ray Oehling, Pittsburgh, Pa. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed at the Nnth LDS Ward Chapel, and burial was at Wasatch Lawn cemetery. |
