Show Summer School Registrants to Find Large Selection of Course Offerings Registration for summer school, which offers a larger larg-er selection of classes than ever before at College of Southern South-ern Utah, will be held Monday, June 4. Procedure will begin at 8 a. m. in the library; and instruction in-struction starts Tuesday. A rich offering is given in education, recreation and travel. Of interest to many teachers throughout this area is the possibility of meeting requirements for Utah certificates certi-ficates and re-certification. Visiting faculty members to supplement the regular staff in education are Dr. Allan M. West, executive secretary of the U E A; Harold Ashman, principal of Midvale Elementary school, Jordan School district; dis-trict; Donald Knight and Lillis Larson of the Iron County schools, and Jean Pugmire, sup- ervisor of elementary education , at C S U. Dr. Royden C. Braith- I waite, director, will teach a course in creativity to supple- 1 ment department courses. Workshop Offered Workshops In the fine arts will.' feature Irving Wassermann, famous fam-ous pianist; A. A. Leath of Hal- prin-Lathrop studio theatre in San Francisco; William IL Man-; ning. Professor emeritus of music; mu-sic; Gaell Llndstrom, well known artist from CSU, and Richard M. Rowley, drama and young people's theatre workshop director. direc-tor. Join the staff for special work- shop activities and photographic j trips into the scenic attractions of southern Utah, as well as Indian In-dian ceremonies into Flagstaff,, Ariz. Dr. C. W. Meighan, assist-1 ant professor of antiiropology, Is conducting a study from University Univer-sity of California at Los Angeles in anthropology. Dr. William R. Palmer prominent southern Utah historian, is to return to teach a class in the historical founding of Utah. Special Toon Another highlight will be the recreational and educational trips local and extended. Week end travels to Zlon, Bryce and Grand Canyons will be conducted most of them by Theron Ashcrof t, tour director. He will also accompany accom-pany a group Into the Northwest beginning July 14. For the third year a low cost tour through Mexico will be a special feature of the summer session. The tour to Mexico costs $170 for 19 days; the one Into Canada $135 for 15 days. Housing accommodations at the dormitories will be available for anyone who wishes them. |
