Show Demonstrations Slated on Canning, Freezing ! "Following the yardstick of nutrition which calls for daily serving of fruits and vegetables and keeping within a limited food budget is made easy by home canning." says Miss Hattie Kilgore, who will lecture and demonstrate home canning at the Beryl School on June 8, at 2 p. m. The meeting Is being arranged by F.mma Nielson, and is o-en to ! ail interested homemakers. Along I with the canning demonstration, ,Miss Elna Miller will give a ! demonstration on freezing. Miss Kilgore Is a graduate of ; Oklahoma College of Woman at jChickasha, Okla., and holds a paster's degree In home economics. econo-mics. For several years she has been a staff member of the education edu-cation department of the Kerr 1 Glass Manufacturing Corporation, Corpora-tion, makers of Kerr fruit jars. 'She had further broadened her knowledge of food preservation by supervising canning centers where foods of all kind were canned. Miss Miller Is the foods specialist from the U S A C extension ex-tension service. All methods of canning will be demonstrated or discuss! Homemakers who plan to cut or-freeze or-freeze the surplus from garden and orchard should not miss Must opportunity to gain pointers that will be helpful the year around. Miss Miller has given many demonstrations in Iron Coutv and many of the homemakers nr member the fine demonstration she gave on bread making about three years ago. The Escalante Valley Is beautiful beauti-ful this spring with Its many green fields and growing wind breaks. The Women's Club at the Valley invite everyone to ceme out to see the valley and te attend at-tend the canning and freezm demonstration on June 8, at 2 pw m. in the school house. |
