Show Funeral Services Conducted Monday in Paragonah for Mrs. Harriet Isobelle Topham PARAGONAH Impressive rites for Mrs, Harriet Isabelle Topham, 81, were held In the Paragonah Ward chapel Monday, June 22 under the direction of the ward bishopric. Mrs. Topham passed away on Friday at a St George rest home. Orson Talbot conducted the ser-1 vices which commenced with the choir singing "Oh, My Father,"! under the direction of D. Amasa Stones with Wllma Lamoreaux, at the organ. George A. Topham' offered the invocation. A life sketch of the deceased was given' by Ethel S. Robb and speakers were Mario Topham of Parowan and Bishop Victor R. Robinson. Mrs. June Topham sang "In the, Garden," and Mrs. Sarah D. Robinson Rob-inson and Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux Lamor-eaux sang a duet, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" Mrs. Melva Barton was accompanist for both of these numbers. The closing song by the choir was "I Need Thee Every hour," and the benediction bene-diction was pronounced by J. Leonard Topham. Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux was at the organ for prelude and postlude music. At the cemetery the prayer was given by Thomas A. Robinson. Harriet Isabelle R. Topham (Aunt Belle), was born July 9, 1877 In Panguitch to Josiah Anderson An-derson and Elizabeth Ann Norton Reynolds. She was the 11th in a family of 17 children. S.e recelv- ed her schooling in Panguitch and helped with the family dairy business and shingle mill work. On Mar. 18, 1903 she married Joseph Riley Topham of Paragonah Paragon-ah in the St. George Temple. To this couple were born six children, chil-dren, two daughters and four sons. One boy died at the age cf ten and another son was killed kill-ed In an automobile accident in his early 20's. Mr. Topham passed pass-ed away J ine 29, 193a Mrs. Topham was a quiet woman. wo-man. She served for many years as first counselor In the ward Relief Society and worked diligently dili-gently to further the work of that organization. Her declining years were spent with her children and later at different cest homes. Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Orson Topham, Top-ham, Helena, Mont.; Herbert, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Isabel T. Polk, Cedar City, and Mrs. C, W. (Rhoda) East, Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Also surviving are the following brother and sisters, Mrs. Nora Barton, Paragonah; Mrs. Lillian Walker, Panguitch, and Lyman Reynolds, Price. All of Mrs. Topham's Immediate Immedi-ate family were here for the funeral fu-neral services, including Mr. and Mrs. Orson Topham and their three sons, Mr. and Mrs. East Mrs. Polk and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Edwards of Panaca, and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Topham, daughter Beverly and sons Eugene, Eu-gene, Murray, Lyle and Stephen Among the other relatives whe came from a distance were Mr and Mrs. Charles Zohell, Price Mr. and Mrs. Ted Walker and Mrs. Clara Ipson, Panguitch; Mrs H. II. Winn, Neph!; Mrs. Loll Holllngshead and members ol her family of Mllford; Mrs. Haz el Thompson, St George, and Mrs. Minnie Anderson and Mrs Marlon Ashdown of Cedar Cltj |
