Show Build-up Is Expected For November Municipal Election A municipal election will be held In Cedar City In November at which three members of the city council are to be elected. Very little has been 'said about the coming election as yet but the two political parties can be expected to start "building a few fences" before long. The terms of three Republican councilmen, Grant Seegmlller, James Heywood and Sam Gentry, will expire at the end of 1959, and their positions will be filled at the coming November election. elec-tion. For a number of years the democrats of Cedar City have been reluctant to seek city office of-fice at any election because of the predomlnently Republican vote. However, results of the city election two years ago and the county election last year, indicates indi-cates a definite change in political poli-tical thinking here, and the Dem-omcrats Dem-omcrats are expected to enter the 1959 election with considerable consider-able vigor. There has been no indication as to whether or not the three above mentioned councilmen will seek re-election, but it is assumed that if they do seek to return to the council the party will mipport ihem. . "" Both parties are expected to begin to build up for various candidates before many weeks, and prospective candidates may come to the attenion of party workers at that time. |
