Show City Council Approves Street Oiling Program, Sets Hearing on Business Parking Kccds The City Council accepted the city engineer's tentative recommendations recom-mendations for the distribution of Class C road funds from the state during the summer season and announced that oil and seal-coating seal-coating will begin in the near future. Cedar City was allocated $12,. 490 for C road money based on population and area, from state automobile license funds. Under the tentative program as outlined by city engineer, Clem-ont Clem-ont B. Adams, new oiling programs pro-grams on seven streets has been scheduled and 11 streets have been scheduled for seal coating. A list of the streets to be oiled during the summer program includes: in-cludes: 150 Ea.t 400 South to Monterey Mont-erey Drlv total footage, 672, 1100 West Street 200 North, north. Total footage 656. College Avenue 200 East to 400 East 1000 feet 640 West 500 South to 600 South. 583 feet 1200 West 200 North, north. 655 feet 500 South 640 West to 700 West 285 feet 500 West 300 South to 400 South. 660 feet Fourteen streets have been list- ed for seal coating with total linear feet of 7,916. List of the seal coating schedule sched-ule is as follows: 75 East 400 South, south. . The meeting will be held in the courtroom of the City and( County building at 8 p. m. Council also met with Walter ( Lowe, manager and operator of Hotel El Escalante to consider his request to build, at his own expense, a swimming pool on the property, which is owned by the city. A special session of the council was called for Monday, June 29 to further consider the mater and an ordinance was presented and accepted by the council at that meeting governing swimming pools. Upon the adoption of the ordinance the city gave Mr. Lowe permission to build the swimming swim-ming pool, at his own expense. Other action of the council authorized the hiring of Rosllee Corry as an addition to the city recreation staff in charge of women's wo-men's and girls' programs for the summer and authorization for the Cedar City Volunteer fire department de-partment to conduct a fireworks display on the evening of July 4 as a part of the celebration planned plan-ned in Cedar City on that national nation-al holiday. |
