Show Elks Lodge Plans Christmas Charity Program The Cedar City Elks Lodge has scheduled its annual Charity Ball fund raising endeavor for Saturday, Sat-urday, December 8. Beginning with a Steak Dinner at 8:00 p. m., the gala, semi-formal affair promises pro-mises to be the outstanding event on the social calendar for BPOE members and their partners. part-ners. It is traditional for all proceeds from the Charity Ball to be used for BPOE charitable endeavors en-deavors in this area. General Chairman Esteemed Leading Knight, C. M. Ahlstrom, is acting as General Gener-al Chairman of the Charity Ball and will lead the Elks Christmas Christ-mas activities in the community commu-nity this year. A free movie for children under 12 years of age will be held and candy given to each child by Santa Claus. Visits to sick children by Santa, can be made if advance arrangements are made with the Elks Lodge. A dance for teenager- will be held on Christmas night to provide pro-vide suDervised recreation for the youth of the community. BPOE members will distribute food baskets to the needy through-out the county and visit and present gifts to the aged and the sick. Worthy Objectives The primary object of the Order Or-der Is the practice of Charity in its broadest significance. Cedar City Elks Lodge can be proud of its contributions in this field, with past successes of the Charity Chari-ty Ball giving an estimated $50,-000 $50,-000 to local charity during the past 32 years. The Elks Lodge has endeavored to maintain itself it-self in readiness to extend its aid in cases of misfortune. During Dur-ing the years it has been able to render assistance to the needy with promptness, effectiveness and lack of red tape. In deed, no history of Iron County would be complete without a few words regarding the charitable endeavors endea-vors of this fraternal organlza- tlnn |
