Show Broadcast of Record Made by Guard Unit in Korea Draws Wide Interest The poople of Cedar City and -southern L'tah enjoyed a very pleasant and unexpected visit from members of the Utah National Na-tional Guard serving in Korea, through a radio broadcast over KSUB. The greetings from the men in Headquarters Battery of the 213th Field Artillery were recorded re-corded in Korea and sent to the radio station here for the broad cast. The nearly half-hour long program pro-gram included short messages from bany of the men of the Headquarters Battery, the Cedar City unit of the National Guard, together with a number of musical mu-sical numbers by men of the battery. With Sgt. Milt Jolley acting as master of ceremonies, greet ings to the folks at home came from Capt. James Hoyle, Scott Urie, Jack Mosdell, Keith Enee, Don Nelson, Lefty Branton, Deloy Porter, Delton Bettridge, Klien Rollo, Don Wood, Floyd Munson, Granger Leigh, Jay Perry, the three Bonzo brothers, Clyde Nelson, Nel-son, Cluff Jolley, Bobby Hunter, Chet Barrick, Melvin Clow, Court TVelson, Arthur Dustin, Gary Mac-farlane, Mac-farlane, and Gary Adams, Cedar City; Caudell Orton, Parowan; Marshall Austin, Beryl; Jim Anderson, An-derson, Paragonah; Hartley Woodbury, Kanarra, and one or two men from St. George, Beaver, and Fillmore who are stationed with the Headquarters battery. In addition to sendins greetings and greetings by the men the program featured several songs by the "Korean Crooners", made up of Delton Bettridge, Don Wood, Klien Rollo, Floyd Munson Mun-son and Bob Smith of Portland, Ore.; a solo with guitar accompaniment accom-paniment by Hay "Sooner" Lam-oreaux Lam-oreaux of Paragonah, and a harmonica har-monica solo by Chet Barrick, dedicated to his daughter in Cedar Ce-dar City. tin addition to sending greetings to their folks, and assuring the folks at home that they were getting along alright, nearly every man expressed the hope that they would be coming home soon. Messages from the folks at home will be returned to the men in Korea in a few days. The Lions club has purchased a recording re-cording machine for the battery, and radio station KSUB has been making recordings of messages from wives, parents, brothers and sisters, to be sent with the recorder. |
