Show Rental Rates For P.O. Boxes Increase July 1 Postmaster Gilbert L. Janson states that the Post Office Department De-partment has Just announced an increase in the quarterly rates for the rental of post office boxes. These new rates become effective effec-tive fnr the ouarfpr hecinnine July 1, and as applied to the Ce-der Ce-der City post office will be as follows Box size No. 1, $1.10 per quarter quar-ter instead of the present 75 cents. Box size No. 2, $1.50 per quarter quar-ter instead of $1.00 as now. Box No. 3, $2.25 instead of $1.50 at present. Box No. 4, $3.00 which at present pres-ent is $2.00. Mr. Janson says that this is the first change in the basic schedule of post office box rentals rent-als since 1907 and that the increased in-creased rates became necessary to meet the greatly increased cost of providing the equipment and maintaining the service. It is believed be-lieved that boxholders will generally gen-erally recognize that this increase in-crease in box rentals is fully warranted in view of the upward trend of all goods and services. The postmaster further states that the box rental at any individual indi-vidual post officce is determined by the annual gross receipts at 'that office, the charge at the largest offices for the largest boxes being as high as $48.00 per year. |
