Show Plans Under Way For Annual Escalante Valley Tour The Escalante Valley Agricultural Agricul-tural committee, consisting of Alfred Al-fred Pederson( William Hunt, and Tony Alberto, has set the date for the annual Escalante Valley tour, and the committee and citizens of the area are busy making plans for the event. The tour will be held on Friday, July 31, and will begin at 9:30 a. m. at Newcastle. People from all parts of the state are invited to join on the tour, during which they will have a chance to see the largest aerable tract of land In the state of Utah, irrigated almost entirely by underground water. Included in the tour will be a visit to one of the lareest farms in thp state where more than 50 of all the certified seed potatoes in the state are grown. Other things to be seen on the tour will be excellent alfalfa, grain, carrot, and other vegetable vegeta-ble crops, and a new community grade "A" dairy barn and 85 head of dairy cows shipped in from Wisconsin this year. In connection with the tour the third annual Beryl 4-H Club Livestock Live-stock Show will be held. TesJ plantings of these trops haves have been made in the county this spring to determine the feasibility of planting the crops on an extensive enough scale to permit establishing a packing plant somewhere in the growing area. Thorough periodic checks will be made throughout the growing season to determine the adaptability of local s-Ml and climatic conditions to this type of project. |
