Show Survey Reveals Cedar Self Sufficient In Case of Attack A survey conducted this week by Haldow E. Christensen, Iron County Civil Defense chairman, and Milton Sevy, Cedar City I chairman, reveals that Cedar 'City h in a much better position to withstand any type of seige ; as the result of an attack f some kind, .than many cities of this size. The survey was conducted to find how long the people of the city and added population, caused by the movement of people peo-ple from disaster areas "ould be sustained without outside help. Mr. Christensen reports that the survey revealed that in at least two categories Cedar City was rather well situated, in the i matter of food supply and also fuel supply. It was estimated that with careful rationing a population of 10,000 people could be sustained for a period of 48 days on the food available within with-in the city. This not only holds true with staple groceries but also with regard to the meat and milk supply, primarily because be-cause of the location of packing and dairy plants here. With regards to fuel supplies, plenty of gasoline, fuel oils, del-sel del-sel fuels, and aviation gasoline is available to meet the needs of the city for a similar length of time. The large fuel supply on hand is because Cedar City is a fuel distribution center, Mr. Christensen states. |
