Show 4-H Offers Bake Demonstration, Dress Revue Awards Two national 4-H award programs pro-grams of special interest to girls have been approved for 1953 by the State Extension Service. They are bread demonstration and dress revue. Objectives of the demonstration demonstra-tion program are to help 4-H club girls acquire the skills involved in-volved in making breads, rolls and other baked food. Participants Partici-pants learn to give effective demonstrations dem-onstrations showing some phase of what has been learned and its relation to the family dietary die-tary needs. Incentives for outstanding out-standing 4-H records of achievement, achieve-ment, provided by Standard Brands, Inc., comprise medals of honor for top ranking Individual and team participants in each qualifying county. State winners, both individual and team members, mem-bers, will receive $50.00 U. S. Savings Bonds. More than 35,800 ' girls in accepting states gave baked foods demonstrations last year before audiences totaling 850,000 persons. In the Dress Revue program, which Is open to all girls participating parti-cipating In the 4-H clothing program, pro-gram, members learn to dress nnnrnnriatelv in keeDint? with a well-planned family budget, and to develop poise, proper posture and habits of good grooming. The popularity of this program is reflected in the enrollment of girls last year, which totaled 669,259. Simplicity Pattern Co.' provides awards of honor medals to county blue award winners and an all-expense trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago next November to the state winner. Each state winner participating in the national presentation pre-sentation at the club congress will receive a leather cased scissors set. County extension agents will furnish complete information concerning these programs. |
