Show Fire Fighters Bring Mountain Blaze Under Control An eight-man forest fire fighting fight-ing crew under the direction of Sheriff Arthur Nelson, Deputy Charles (Chuck) Wells and Game Warden Saunders Clark of Par-owan, Par-owan, brought a fire under control con-trol on Summit mountain early this week after about 12 acres of range land had been burned over. The fire was on range land belonging be-longing to Wesley Bauer, Cedar City sheepman. Mr. Bauer reported re-ported the fire to Sheriff Nelson, who Is chief forest fire warden for Iron County, and the fire fighting crew was immediately organized. Cause of the fire was not definitely defi-nitely determined but, the of- fleers voiced the opinion that it may have started from a cigarette. cigar-ette. It was the second forest fire in southern Utah during the week, a fire in the Bryce canyon vicinity having been brought under control con-trol earlier In the week. Extreme drought conditions In the area has created a serious fire hazard through all of this section of the state and extreme caution will be necessary, Sheriff Nelson Indicated, if disastrous fires are to be avoided. |
