Show Coroner's Jury Investigates Death Of Charles Ashdown, Local Miner A coroner's jury called Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon to conduct an Inquest into the death of Ray Ashdown, 41, local coal miner, postponed final action on the Inquest In-quest until reports are received from laboratories in Salt Lake City. Police officers indicate that tests are being run today, and further action by the jury will not be taken until final reports are received. The Jury was called to determine deter-mine the cause of death after Mr. Ashdown had died suddenly Tuesday afternoon after a brief period of violent suffering which the attending physician termed "generalized convulsive seizures resembling those due to serious poisoning." An autopsy wa3 performed on Wednesday morning, and specimens speci-mens were forwarded to a Utah state toxologlst. Mr. Ashdown was born In Cedar Ce-dar City on Jan. 5, 1911, a son of Frank I. and Sarah Pendleton Ashdown, and had made his home In Cedar City all his life except for a short period during which he resided in Nevada. He had been engaged as a coal min-er min-er for many years. He is survived by his widow, Hilda Hopkins Ashdown; three daughters and four sons, Mrs. Beverly Murle, Jane, Sarah, Jim-mle, Jim-mle, George, William and Gary Ashdown, all of Cedar City; three brothers and two sisters, Melbourne Mel-bourne Ashdown and Mrs. Mary A. Urle, Cedar City; Ellis Ash-down, Ash-down, Orem; Frank Ashdown, Chlco, Calif., and Mrs. Phyllis Taylor, Ploche, Nev. Funeral plans will be announced announc-ed by the Southern Utah Mor-tuary. |
