Show New Screen Provided To Protect Ball Park Spectators Another improvement at the Lions Softball diamond at the recreation park east of the city has been made during the week, an improvement desjgned for the protection of spectators. New screens have been installed instal-led in front of the bleachers down the first and third base lines, as a means of keeping I tted and thrown balls from going into the spectators. The screen previously Installed did not extend all the way in front of the bleachers, but was high enough to stop high foul balls from going out of the park, and also to protect the spectators near home plate from both foul balls and overthrows at home base. The new screen Is only high enough to stop drives into the bleachers, eliminating a danger to spectators particularly from sharp foul drives that formerly went directly into the crowd. |
