Show Many Families Gather in Parovan To Renew Acquaintance in Reunions Parowan will be the scene of a number of family reunions dur-the dur-the next several weeks during which time many former residents resi-dents will return to visit and join with family members here in get-togethers, picnics and programs, pro-grams, with the public Invited to participate in some of the events. Already two family reunions have been held here this year, and four more are being planned plan-ned for the near future. The first one of these Is the reunion of the Nelson Stnyell Hollingshead family, fam-ily, set for this week end, July 8 and 9. Following the Hollingshead Hollings-head gathering in two weeks will be the reunions of the William Wil-liam Cooke Mitchell and George A. Lowe families, both on the same week end, and then two weeks later we understand there will be a reunion of the Clark family here. Temple Excursion This week the Hollingshead family will gather on Friday and Saturday, with an excursion to the St. George Temple set for Friday followed by a meeting in the evening at the George A. Lowe home for those Interested in genealogical work. Saturday morning at 9 registration regis-tration will begin at the Old Rock Church, with a program and genealogy gen-ealogy report at 10, with special entertainment for the children. At 1 p. m. the group will move to the Five Miles for lunch, games, and visiting and In the evening a bon fire song fest will be held. July 23 and 24 the William Cooke Mitchell reunion will be held here according to Karl 0. Mitchell, president of the group. Other officers of the organization organiza-tion are Huldah M.' Hulet secretary; secre-tary; J. Clayton Mitchell, Salt Lake City, program chairman and Hal S. Mitchell, genealogical genealogi-cal chairman. This group will register at the Ace Motel here from 8:30 to 10 a. m. Saturday. The fest of the day will be spent In Parowan mountains moun-tains with a group picnic to be held at Nellie's Flat. In the evening eve-ning a banquet will be held In the First-Second Ward chapel, followed by a program and a dance, with the dance open to the public. Family members will attend church services Sunday with an open house from 3:30 to 5 p. m. In the Old Rock Church with the public invited to attend. This will be followed by a business meeting meet-ing as the concluding event. The George A. Lowe Family reunion re-union will be held the same week end, but on Sunday and Monday, July 24 and 25, according to Ila Lowe Bauer of Cedar City. This group will hold Its registration at the Old Rock Church Sunday from 9 to 10 a. m. followed by a business meeting and entertainment enter-tainment for the children. At noon they will move to the Five Mile for an afternoon of games a program and lunch. Monday morning the family will assemble, probably at the Clefford Evans home for a trip In the Parowan mountains, the highlight of which will be a mutton dinner cooked In dutch ovens at the Lowe Ranch In Dry Lakes. |
