Show HAPPENINGS IN PftRRGONBH By Nora Lund i A most delightful Mutual par-1 ty was held in the school auditorium audi-torium Tuesday evening, with over 70 people in attendance. Personally autographed Christmas Christ-mas booklets were presented by the officers, Arthur Evans, Herbert Herb-ert Topham, Ralph Edwards, Hazel Jean Robinson, Erma Lam-oreaux Lam-oreaux and Cleo Edwards, to each one. The Yuletide customs' of different differ-ent countries were portrayed in the decorations and games, with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Edwards in charge. Dance directors, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Evans, supervised the mixer dancers. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening's entertainmnt. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bettridge have received word that their son. Cpl. Elwood Bettridge, who is stationed at Camp Pendleton, will be home for Christmas. We understand Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Topham, and their son GaJe Stolk, have purchased a home in Parowan and moved to that community. We will miss these fine people from our midst and wish them every happiness in their new place of abode. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Abbott and children of Sandy spent the week end here with his parents, the Samuel Abbotts. Elder Chad Orton of Parowan, recently returned missionary from the Western Canadian Mission, Mis-sion, gave us fine intstructions in Sacrament meeting Sunday. J. Leonard Topham of the stake high council, and Ronald Topham, Top-ham, a teacher, gave timely talks. Mrs. Howard Topham sang a vocaj solo. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Orton accompanied their son. Mrs. Joan Davenport spent a few days last week in Salt Lake City on business, and visiting her brother, LcGrande Robb and fam ily-Mrs. ily-Mrs. Matty Barton and children and Mrs. Dortha Barton and son traveled to Beaver Tuesday to visit and have dental work done. Mrs. Mary Little and son Kay, of Little's Ranch in Kane County, were here Tuesday to visit her sister, Mrs. Hannah Robinson. Mrs. Sawyer of Toleda, Ohio, who is in this section to spend Christmas with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Topham and family in Farowan, is spending part of her time with the George A. Tophams here. The Primary officers' Christmas party was held Thursday evening at the home of Joan Davenport, president. Games and refreshments refresh-ments appropriate for the season sea-son were enjoyed by the number present. Miss Doris McBride had as her ;,liest Sunday, Mr. Phillips of I Ca.'iente, Nev. Doris spends the week ends here from her employ- I ment in Cedar City. j In Sunday School on Sunday ' morning, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Robinson were paid high tribute tri-bute for their long years of service ser-vice as teachers of the Gospel Doctrine class. Jess and Shirley Lister, along with Mrs. Dalley of Summit, made radio news Monday. When the Listers were traveing to Cedar Ce-dar City Saturday morning they picked up a suit case and numerous num-erous packages lost by a family going from the coast to Wyoming. Wyo-ming. They returned the articles to the Sheriff's office in Cedar City and received wide acclaim for their honesty. Mr. and Mrs. Dee White came in Saturday from Logan to spend Christmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Revere Robinson here and the Herbert Whites of Summit. Gordon Manzione came from his employment in Price to spend the week end with his wife, Jeannine. We are proud of our music students stu-dents of the Parowan High School, who helped out with the fine Christmas concert Sunday evening. Those taking part in the chorus were: Rose Ann and Vcs'-ta Vcs'-ta Rae Barton, Tess Robb, Helen Jean Dalton, Phyllis Robb, Laura Lamoreaux, Carolyn Jones, Heber Lund, and Kenny Topham. with Michael Williamson and Duane Lamoreaux playing in the band. Duane also played an accordion accor-dion solo and Phy.Hls Robb gave an extra vocal number with Miss Sonya Adams of Parowan. Much credit is due Mr. Asay, music instructor at the P. II. S. for his outstanding ability in teaching these young people to perform as ably before the public. pub-lic. A number of our sports fans took in the week end basketball games in Parowan and Cedar City in which the Parowan and Cedar teams played Ben Lomond and Jordan. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Williamson William-son and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamoreaux Lam-oreaux were guests of their sons, Michael Williamson and Duane Lamoreaux at a band party on Wednesday evening in Parowan. Guests Wednesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Abbott were his sister, Mrs. Pearl Rogers of Cedar City and his cousin, Mrs. Josephine Brown of Kanab. Fred Miskin was their overnight guest Thursday on his way to Mes-quite, Mes-quite, Nev. We have had some very interesting inter-esting demonstrations in our Relief Re-lief Society work meetings lately. late-ly. Mrs. Mary Sargent of Cedar City showed the technique of making delicious Christmas candy, can-dy, and Mrs. Zilpha Dalton of Parowan demonstrated lovely decorations for the Yuletide season. Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Hunt and baby came down from Stockton to visit his mother and sisters over the week end. On Saturday evening, Mrs. Gwen Jones entertained at a personal per-sonal wedding shower for her niece, Adele Iverson Burjeson, one time resident of our community, com-munity, and past student of the Parowan High School. Mrs. Burleson, Burle-son, a B Y U student, makes her home now in Henderson, Nev., Her new husband is Joseph Burleson Burle-son of Henderson. The invited guests' at the social so-cial gathering were relatives and school friends of Mrs. Burleson's with her mother, Mrs. Emma Frandson coming from Henderson and her grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Nel-lie Englestead from St. George. Andrew Norton of Bountiful and his daughter, Mrs. Ahlstrom of Panguitch, visited with his couis'n, Andrew Lamoreaux Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamoreaux. |
