Show Television Firm Signs Agreement With City. Sets Line Service Date After weeks of almost bitter argument between rival firms proposing to bring various types of television to Cedar City the city has signed an agreement with Trans-Community Trans-Community Television Net work to bring "Pay-as-you-see" television service to the community. The agreement was signed at the meeting of the City Council Thursday, after the company had submitted all documents required including includ-ing satisfactory finacial status, bonds and insurance. However, the agreement is not exclusive in any way and the action of the council docs not prevent any other firm signing similar agreements with the city if they so desire. Officials of Trans-Community Network announce that actual work of "wiring" the city, for the service will be started on Tuesday, Tues-day, Doc. 28, well within the 15-day 15-day start work time limit stipulated stipu-lated in the agreement. Service Stipulation Under the agreement only a portion por-tion of the city will be complete-'y complete-'y wired at this time, but the company must provide service to any residence in the city within 45 days after application for such service is filed. Thus the service will be available to any resident of the city Interested and willing ot pay Installation charges. The agreement Is in operation for five years and carries another five-year option. Service for the full five year period Is guaranteed guaran-teed by a $50,000 performance bond. John Rowberry, president of Es-calante Es-calante Service Corp., rival company com-pany of TCTV, which proposes to serve the community with micro-wave service, states that his firm Is continuing Its' engineering engineer-ing study and plans to proceed with Its service as soon as a satisfactory sat-isfactory signal Is established. No agreement has been signed with the city by his firm, but Mr. Row-berry Row-berry Indicates that as soon as the signal Is established the agreement will be signed and the company will proceed with he originally planned program. Arthur Iligbee, manager of the Southern Utah Broadcasting Co., KSUB, announces also that his company plans to proceed as rapidly ra-pidly as possible with the establishment estab-lishment of television service as originally announced.
