Show J0 S. IPffesGwDeEi! Cps Yp Grand prize winner in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce home lighting contest this year was the residence of Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Prestwich, judges of the contest announced an-nounced late Wednesday evening. The top local prize of $25 from the Junior Camber will go to the I'restwiches but in addition the lighting project at their residence at 2G3 South Main will be entered in the national General Electric lighting contest, Rob Faddis and Douglas Litnt, co-chairmen of the project stated. Second place winner in the contest con-test and the recipient of the $15 cash prize was the home of Giles Bolander at 528 South 300 West. Third place winner was another 300 West residence, that of Alden Heap at 478 West. Heap will receive re-ceive a cash prize of $7.50. Point System Judging Judging was done by the Cedar Ce-dar Bcautification Committee and entries were Judged on a point system, the same as the national contest being sponsored by G. E. A total of 100 points was possible In a computation of four different differ-ent brackets as follows: 30 points for artistic merit including design, de-sign, composition and arrangements arrange-ments of elements, and color scheme; 20 points for originality, including new Ideas or effects and now ways of using standard devices. 30 points for lighting techniques use of regular Christmas tree lamps', use of spot and flood lamps, use of other lamps and 20 points for Ingenuity Ingenui-ty In using structure of home. In using surroundings to advantage, In assembling display, In construction con-struction and Installation. The Prestwich residence was rated at 90 points by the Judges with Bolander garnering a total to-tal of 80 points and Heap a total of 75 points. Honorable Mention In addition to the three prizes offered by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, 10 honorable mention prizes were awarded by the Southern Utah Power Company, each to receive $2.50. The 10 honorable mention awards were given to the follow-ing: follow-ing: W. Arthur Jones, 238 South 100 West; G. D. McGarry, 543 South 300 West; Allan Roberds, 1 47 North 1150 West; Broze Bulloch, Bul-loch, Western View; Charles F. 'Moore, 83 North 100 East; John M. Brown, 135 North 300 West; Robert Llnford, 137 North 1050 West; Alfred Olson, 354 South 100 West; Dan Lindsay, 527 South 300 West, and Dee Cowan, 423 South 450 West. According to the judges a number num-ber of homes were In the running for third place with particular merit extended to the homes of W. Arthur Jones and G. D. McGarry. Mc-Garry. Special Street Program Another comment of the Judges was the exceptionally fine display dis-play of lights at home on South 300 West Street. Although a number of the winning entrants were from that area, nevertheless, nearly all homes from 400 South on south have a lighting project which makes it the most outstanding out-standing street In the city for home decorations. It was also pointed out that although some homes did not submit entrance blanks for the contest the Judges surveyed the city and included every home that had a lighting project. Rather Rath-er than discriminate, the entire city was canvassed for lighting projects and Judging was completed com-pleted on that basis, Faddis commented, com-mented, with over 60 homes being be-ing Judged.
