Redmen Rally in Fracas with Eagles To Post First Pre-League Victory Aftt-r dropping six successive games, beginning with the opener open-er against Richfield early this month, the Cedar City High School Redmen finally came to life Wednesday evening in posting post-ing a 51 to 44 win over the Millard Mil-lard Eagles of Fillmore. Coach Ray Englestead, with one of his regular starters on the bench, found a winning combination combin-ation in an array of five seniors to start the action in the first quarter of play. Out for the evening eve-ning was Dan Webster who sprained his ankle skiing. The starting five consited of Sheldon Hefner, Terry Rosenberg, Otis McCall, Kenneth Griener and Gordon Slack. Slack paced the Redmen Wednesday Wed-nesday evening with a cool 21 points in his finest scoring ef. fort of the season. Rosenberg, who has scored in the teens consistently con-sistently this season, was next in line for the Redmen with 12 points, followed by Hefner with 11. Millard's best effort In the scoring scor-ing was 14 by Lebrum. Seven Point Margin The Redmen, who scored five points in the first quarter of their last game against Jordan, opened open-ed fire earjy Wednesday night with 17 points to their credit at that point. The first quarter effort ef-fort gave the Redmen a seven point bulge at that point, a bulge they held and bettered throughout through-out the game. At the half-way mark the Red-men Red-men were 11 points ahead with a 31 to 20 lead. At the end of the third quarter with the Redmen scoring 10 md Millard hitting for 11, the lead was narrow to six points at 40 to 34. The third quarter quar-ter was the only one in which the Eagles outscored the Red-men. Red-men. This evening the Redmen take on Parowan at Parowan in the second meeting of the two teams, i this year. On Dec. 7, Parowan edged past the Redmen with a ' 4G to 45 win on the locaj floor. Following the Parowan encounter en-counter the Redmen have three J more games before entering dJ-, dJ-, vision play on Jan. 6. Wednes-1 Wednes-1 day, Dec. 28 will be the last pre season appearance for th Redmen on the home court. |
