Show i f With The Q (fC 213TH ARMORED FIELD, p: M'ifiar ARTILLERY BATTALION M fVJ3 BY KLIEN ROLLO Cedar City Men j Take 10 Day Furloughs Leaves, better known as furloughs, fur-loughs, are the favorite topic with the 213th at the present time and as people of Cedar know the crys are paying off. At the present time 14 Cedar City boys are, or should be, home on a 10-day leave, with the possibility pos-sibility of more to come in the near future. Ten men have just returned from Cedar. Fourteen are home now and more should come when these 14 return, which takes care of most of the men of Headquarters Head-quarters battery. Those home at the present time are: Mac Armstrong, Kenneth Ken-neth Bladen, Max Bonzo, Rulon (Dan) Corry, Keith Ence, Lloyd Fullerton, Kenneth (Jack) Mos-dell, Mos-dell, Don Nelson, Kllen Rollo, Don Wood and Darol lmlay all of Cedar City, Lloyd DeMille and Preston Mitchell of Parowan were also granted leaves. Several wives also accompanied accompan-ied their husbands home. They are: Mrs, Armstrong, Mrs. Fuller-ton, Fuller-ton, Mrsv. Rollo and Mrs. Nelson. Hoop Squad of 213th Diops to 2nd Slot The 213th basketball squad dropped one and won one game in the past two weeks, dropping them to second place in the post basketball league. The game won was with the 1147 Engineers Battalion by a score of 48-35. The 213th led all the way and won the contest quite easily. The game dropped was to the 300th Armored Artillery Battalion Officers Attending 15-Week Artillery School Seven officers of the 213th left Tuesday for Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to attend a 15 weeks artillery school. Three of the officers were members of Headquarters Battery. Bat-tery. Those attending the school '.from Cedar City are Lt. Paul R. Grimshaw, Lt. Henry H. Leigh, and Lt. Lanard Johnson. Other officers are Lt. Raymond Duerk-sen, Duerk-sen, originally with headquarters battery and a resindent of Cedar Ce-dar City, now with Service Battery Bat-tery from Beaver; Lt. Barnes ancF Lt. Christensen, both of Richfield! and with "A" Battery, and Lt-Jay Lt-Jay Ramsey from Fillmore andl now an officer with "B" Battery from St. George. The school will consist of basic ba-sic artillery fundamentals and' refresher courses in all basic army requirements. Lt. Johnson, pilot for the 213th Is planning to take an advanced pilot course at Ft. Sill after he has completed his basic course. a National Guard unit from Wyoming. Wy-oming. The score was 52-37. The 300th is now in the lead of the-post" the-post" race without a loss. How- ever, it still has to play the 213th again and the 213th will have a. chance to regain its loss and again be on top of the standing. A game will be played tonight at the fort and will end the first round of play. |
