Show C. of C. Renews Efforts to Find Dump Site The Board of Directors of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, and" the City Council, have renewed their efforts to find a suitable site for a new city dump, a problem that must be solved in the near future. The old dump site has not only been filled almost al-most beyond further use, but in addition the city has spread to a point that has made the present pres-ent dump location entirely unsatisfactory. un-satisfactory. An application for use of Public Pub-lic Domain land for a dump at a site selected southwest of the city has been rejected by the Bureau of Land Management, necessitating the location of a new site as soon as possible. Investigation has been made by the two groups, and a site: northeast of the city, on ground owned by Carlos Jones, has been selected as the most suitable, and it is expected that an attempt at-tempt will be made to acquire the needed land. While this is being studied further and details de-tails worked out. there is a possibility pos-sibility that a temporary dump may be located in the old gravel pits north of town, which are to be abandoned. This site is not entirely suitable, but could be used on a temporary basis and the accumulation covered when a new and permanent site is se-lected se-lected and acquired. |
