Show Five From Cedar Gain Seats in BYUClinicBand Five students from Cedar City taking part In the annual summer sum-mer music clinic at Brigham Young University all placed on the clinic high school band, according ac-cording to A. B. Larson, music director di-rector in the Cedar city schools. The clinic ended Aug. 12 after a two-week session which saw more than 100 students and 31 music supervisors enrolled for special music instruction. Those attending the clinic from Cedar and playing in the clinic high school band were: Karen J. Froyd, oboe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Froyd; T. J. Jones, baritone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Jones; Lorraine Miller, Mil-ler, flute, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller; Alan C. Seegmiller, clarinet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Seegmiller, end Pat J. Petty, tenor saxa-phone, saxa-phone, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Petty. Most of the students participated participat-ed in private study, and instrumental instru-mental group and ensemble work. The clinic was closed Saturday Sat-urday after the presentation of two concerts by clinic participants. partici-pants. The Friday night concert was given by the chorus and orchestra, or-chestra, and the Saturday night concert was presented by the clinic high school and college bands. In addition to a staff of BYU music specialists who gave private pri-vate instruction, nationally famous fa-mous guest instructors were at the university for the clinic. Artists Ar-tists on the campus for the 12th annual BYU summer music festival fes-tival also gave instruction during dur-ing the clinic. |
