Show Bennett Opposes Brannan Farm Program Asserting that he is strongly opposed to the Brannan Farm plan, Wallace Bennett, Salt Lake City, candidate for the Republican Republi-can nomination to the U. S. Senate, Sen-ate, this week set forth his position posi-tion on agriculture. In a special statement to the Iron County Record Mr. Bennett said in part: "I am opposed to the Brannan program, or to any other farm plan that permits such complete federal control of our farmers and our agricultural economy. Though the present price support program leaves many problems unsolved, it should not be discarded dis-carded until our farmers and stock raisers themselves can help work out a plan which will restore free markets without wrecking agriculture." "Through the Brannan plan", Mr. Bennett insisted "the "so-called "so-called Fair Deal administration and its "rubber stamp" congressional congres-sional members from Utah are attempting to regiment and socialize so-cialize agriculture just as some of their other proposals are aimed aim-ed at socializing medicine and the health service, housing, education, edu-cation, etc." He predicted that the Utah Democratic or Fair Deal senate and congressional candidates would "soft-pedal" their support for the Brannan plan while cam paigning in Utah so as not to offend of-fend this states clear-thinking farmers. "But if they are re-elected, you can be sure they will follow the party line in favor of the Brannan Bran-nan plan as well as for socialized medicine, etc. The Democratic administration has long treated the West's basic ba-sic agricultural and livestock industries in-dustries as 'step children', these Industries are entitled to a more equitable share of the domestic domes-tic market."
