Show Two Hurt in Auto Accident; One Driver Gets Citation Two automobile accidents south of Cedar City on U. S. Highway 91 Sunday, Aug. 13. sent two persons to the Iron County hospital hos-pital and resulted in one driv-er driv-er receiving a citation for operating oper-ating a motor vehicle without a license. Duane Balch, 20. Compton, Calif, was injured Sunday at 6:30 a. m., when his car missed the bridge .4 mile south of the Washington county line and Jumped a 15-foot wash, with the rear end of the car falling back into the wash. He suffered a broken wrist, lacerations of the face and a bruised knee. He was taken to the Iron County hispital for treatment. Investigation the accident ac-cident was State Highway Patrolman Pa-trolman Thomas Simmons, along with Iron county sheriff Art Nelson. The second accident occurred at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, when a Vton pickup truck, driven by Gerald Kay Stratton, 18, Hurricane, Hurri-cane, went into a barrow pit six miles north of Pintura at the Ash Creek bridge. According to Sgt. Lorin Squires of the highway patrol, who investigated in-vestigated the accident, the driver driv-er stated that he met a car on the turn and was crowded off the road. Stratton was issued a citation for driving without a license. Injured in the accident was Mrs. LaFreel Stratton, mother of the driver of the truck who suffered suf-fered a broken right arm and a dislocated shoulder. Two small children in the truck were un-injured. |
