Show Two Men Receive Jail Sentences At Court Session Among the cases which came up Tuesday in the Fifth Judicial District Court it Parowan, was a charge against Fred Casillas, 3.1, East St. Louis. Ill, of writing checks in Cedar City against insufficient in-sufficient funds. Casillas pleaded guilty to tlie charge, and was sentenced by Judge Albert H. El-lett El-lett to serve 1 to 1 1 years in the Utah State prison. Third District Judge Ellett presided pre-sided at the session of the Fifth district court following a switch of assignments with Fifth Dis-tiict Dis-tiict Judge W. L. Hoyt who is in Salt Lake City. Also heard by Judge Ellett was a charge of Carnal Knowledge against four Cedar City men. One of the defendants, Fay Edwards Ed-wards pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve a prison term of from one to five years. However, How-ever, the sentence was suspended suspend-ed until the parole board has an opportunity to investigate the case. Trial dates for the other three defendants was set by the Judge. William H. Bess, 22, will appear for trial to face the charge on Wednesday. Feb. 8. The trial of Tliomas W. Munford, 20, and Veroene W. Munford, 18, brothers, broth-ers, will be held after the Bess trial. |
