Show UNESCOFeatured At Coordinating Council Meeting United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organizations, organiza-tions, commonly referred to as UNESCO, was one of the topics featured at the regular monthly meeting of the Cedar City co-ordinating co-ordinating council Thursday evening, eve-ning, January 26. Work of the local UNESCO committee was discussed, and it was decided to conduct a survey sur-vey during the first part of this month among organized groups in the community to determine what is being done in connection connec-tion with the UNESCO program. W. K. Daly, UNESCO chairman, stated that after it is learned what is now being done and what the needs and problems of Europoan countries are, the committee com-mittee will attempt to initiate a program in which the entire community may take part. On the local UNESCO committee commit-tee besides Mr. Daly are: Mrs. George LeBaron, Mrs. K. L. Jones, Mrs. G. R. Tarry, Mrs. R. K. Pal- mrr CI O 1 nrenn Vorn Viifnr and Mary McMillan. Another highlight of the meet-ing meet-ing was the proposal of Dr. H. Wayne Driggs, director of the Branch Agricultural college, to form a new working committee of the coordinating council, to be known as a community school relations committee for the B. A. C. This committee would be composed of six members whose duty would be to clarify relationships rela-tionships between the community communi-ty and the school. After much discussion, the council adopted the proposal with the committee members to be named later. It is hoped by the council that this new rnmmlttoo will csrvo no a central organization point for the various groups now organized organiz-ed in the community as B. A. C. committees. During the meeting, Leland Heywood was named to replace Otto Fife as chairman of the Safety committee. The committee will include Roy Walters. Morris Buhanan, Glenn Jackson and Tony Lambert. A Red Cross report was made to the council by G. O. Larson, county chairman, and the new fieldhouse tax of the BAC was explained by Dr. Driggs. J. Frank Dalley, coordinating council chairman, presided over the meeting. |
