Show Honored On Golden Wedding Anniversary Hundreds of people from all parts of southern Utah gathered at the Cedar First Ward Recreation hall monday evening, April 28, to honor Mr. and Mrs. Dan E. Mathesan, pioneer Iron county residents, on their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Matheson were married mar-ried "In the St. George LDS temple tem-ple on April 27, 1897 and have lived in Cedar City since that time. Both are natives of the county and have always been active In church and civic affairs. Mr. Matheson has engaged in the publishing business, has been a roller roll-er mill operator, and has been a builder and farmer. He assisted' with the Installation of the first telephones tele-phones in Iron county. Mrs. Matheson was the last of 3 group of telegraph operators who served with the old Deseret Telegraph Tele-graph line before it was taken over by Western Union. ie is a daughter daugh-ter of Henry Lunt, clerk of the first company of pioneers who settled Cedar City and Parowan. Both were members of the Cedar City choir for sixteen years. Their seven sons and daughters were In attendance at the reception, including Dwayne ll Matheson, Cedar Ce-dar City; Albert Matheson, Downey, California; Mrs. Violet Stevens, of Provo; Mrs. Ianthe Harper and Mrs. Mary M. Dalton, Ogden; Mrs. Phyllis Phy-llis Gilbert, Inglewood, California, and William Matheson, Los Angeles. |
