Open house will be v.'! held by the couple on the 26th Jf ( at their home, following by a jr l!" special program by their chil- v dren in the evening. 1 ' ' r z? y f 'p. 3sa ) ' rrr to Vj isr fllaers Celebrate Wedding Dec. 26 Enterprise Celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Alger win entertain en-tertain at open house on Tuesday, Tues-day, Dec. 26, at their home here. Open house will be held during the afternoon and in the evening eve-ning a program will be presented present-ed in their honor by their children child-ren and grandchildren. The program pro-gram will be held in the ward chapel beginning at 7 p. m., with all their friends invited to attend. at-tend. Mr. and Mrs. Alger were married mar-ried in Enterprise in 1900 and lived at Enterprise for two years before moving to Hatch. They remained at Hatch until 1905 and since then have made their home in Enterprise. Mr. Alger was born in St. George on August 30, 1880, and Mrs. Mary Melinda Hall Alger was born in Therber, Utah, on April 8. 1884. Mr. Alger has engaged in dairying dai-rying and ranching during most of his life, although he operated operat-ed the Enterprise grist mill for a five year period. Both Mr. and Mrs. Alger have been active In church affairs. Mr. Alger has served In such capacities as a member of the M. I. A. superintendence1, superin-tendence1, member of the High Priests stake presidency, chairman chair-man of the stake Genealogical committee, and stake missionary. Mrs. Alger has been active in both Relief Society and Primary organizations, serving as officer and teacher in both. Mr. and Mrs. Alger boast of having the largest family in the history of Enterprise. Of the eighten children born to them, including two sets of twins, nine girls and two boys are still living. liv-ing. None of the eighteen children child-ren were born in a hospital, and no two of their children, except the twins, were born In the same house. Their surviving children are, Mrs. Gwen Thomas, Mrs. Roca O'Neal, Orlas Alger, Paul Alger, Mrs. Madge Hunt. Enterprise; Mrs. Cecil Lang, St. George; Mrs. Orpha Robinson, Fallon, Nev.; I TT 1 1 Airs, inena utonnor, L.os Angeles; An-geles; Mrs. Fake Gleason, Mrs. Audrey Gleason, Garland, Utah, and Mrs. Jane Lamb, Alamo, Nevada. Ne-vada. They have 54 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. |
