Show Granger May Take Seat on Ways, Means Committee Reports from Washington, D. C. indicate that Congressman Walter Walt-er K. Granger of Cedar City is being urged to accept appointment appoint-ment to the powerful ways and means committee of the house of representatives when the 82nd Congress convenes in January. If Rep. Granger consents to become be-come a member of this committee, commit-tee, it will mean that he must resign from the agriculture committee com-mittee where he has built up ten years of seniority, and where he would be the ranking Democrat Demo-crat on the committee. He would be able to continue to serve on the forestry sub committee which he now heads. It has been pointed out that If Granger moves to the ways and means committee lt will probably mean that he will be a candidate for the United States Senate In 1952 rather than seek-Ing seek-Ing re election to the House. Mr. Granger apparently has made no commitment on either the committee com-mittee assignment or his future plans in the political picture. |
