Show Cedar Boys Fight Fire In Forty Below Zero ' Weather in Alaska While we are stewing about the storm and cold, it might help to relieve our feeling3 a bit, if we looked about to see what others are having to put up with. A couple of Cedar City boys, Muughan Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard rcrkins, and Bud Corlett, son of Mrs. Elmer Smith, who are serving with the Army at the Ladd AFB in Alaska, were called out at 2:00 a. m. recently to help fight a fire in the 626th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. It was forty degrees below zero at the time, which naturally natural-ly handicapped the fire fighters to some extent. Five of the Ladd fire fighters, Including Perkins, were frost bitten during the early ear-ly morning hours while, combatting combat-ting the nflagratlon. Maybe .is isn't so bad after all. |
