Show Lions' District , Governor Visits Cedar City Club Ira Overfelt of Gunnison, district Governor of Utah Lions Clubs, visited visit-ed the Cedar City Club Monday, addressing the club at its meeting Monday noon and conferring with the Board of Dlreclors during the afternoon. Governor Overfelt, iii his address to the club members, praised the organization for its effort In connection con-nection with national defense. He cuinpllmented the members on their weekly purchase of defense Btampo, upon their purchasing of bonds as individuals and for their cooperation coopera-tion with the Cedar City Defense Bond Sales Conunittee. He stated that all clubs in his district are cooperating in some way with such defense programs. The speaker also praised the work of the Lions of Utah in their assistance assis-tance to the blind of the state, reporting re-porting that as a result of the activities act-ivities of Utuh Lions the blind people of the state have been materially assisted in many ways. The state advertising campaign, In which the Lions Clubs are cooperating co-operating with the State Advertising Advertis-ing committee set-up, in connection connec-tion wltli the administrations reorganization re-organization program, was explained explain-ed by Mr. Overfelt. He voiced ths opinion that as soon as the advertising adver-tising program proposed by the Lions Is outlined in detail and submitted sub-mitted to Governor H. B. Maw, that state funds would be made a-vallable a-vallable to carry out the program. Plans for the District Convention to be held in St. George on May 8, 9 and 10, were discussed by Mr. Overfelt, both at the club meeting and with the Board of Directors. Following these discussions the Cedar Ce-dar City club officials agreed to participate in the convention to the extent that the local group will furnish musical numbers for the opening day programs, hnd will stage a "Model Lions Meeting" on the second day. |
