Show Iron County Noxious Weed Control Program Started ' The Iron County Noxious Program Pro-gram started Monday in the Cedar City area. The program this year will be under the supervision of Joel C. Barlow, District Agricultural Inspector. Inspec-tor. The men will spend this weeK treating white top, as It comes up earlier than any other noxious weed. Eight members of the Iron County Noxious Weed committee met on Saturday, Sat-urday, April 4, to formulate the season's program. Members present were, H. L. Adams, Roice Nelson, E. N. Thompson, Jim Anderson, Fernley Gardner, Henry Jones, La Mont E. Tueller, and Joel C. Bur-low. Bur-low. Mr. Thompson, WPA District Engineer, assured the committee as long as men are available the weed project would be able to get them. He even stated that the weed project pro-ject Is considered a defease project and will be given prior consideration considera-tion as far as available WPA labor Is concerned this year. An Executive Committee was named for Cedar Valley as well as for Parowan Valley: Roice Nelson, Femley Gardner, and Henry Jones constitute Uie Cedar committee. H. L. Adams and James A. Robinson were appointed for Parowan Valley. The matter of force clean-ups in city limits was discussed and Henry Jones was asked to meet with the Cedar City Council and H. L. Adams Ad-ams the Parowan Council to work out finance In case quuranllnin:: became necessary. The committee has as their aim this year work of some kind on ail known patches of noxious weeds in Iron County. It will be Impossible to eradicate all patches this year but work can be started or control measurer practiced. The cominittej solicits the support of all property owners having noxious weeds. They Would appreciate having patches reported re-ported to any member of the committee, com-mittee, and especially to Joel C. Barlow, Inspector, or LaMont E. Tueller, County Agent. The sheepmen are urged to hav.' their herders flag patches of poison milk weed when they find them on range lands so that weed crews can find them later for treatment. |
