Show Increase in Profits For October Reported By Liquor Officials Profits from the sale of liquor in the state of Utah during the moth of October, 1941, show an Increase In-crease of 24 84 per cent, or $34,-294.98, $34,-294.98, over profits for the corresponding cor-responding month of 1940, Mn. Jeanette P. Oarner, chairman of the Utah Liquor Control Commission, reported this week. October profits were $140,368.26. An Increase of $143,462.89 was also reported for the four-month period ending October 31 over the corresponding period of last year. The dual increase in profits was largely due to Increased sale of Individual In-dividual liquor permits, according to Mrs. Garner, which resulted In an increase in the number of liquor store customers. Revenue from the liquor permit salts for Uie four-month four-month period increased $4,645.50 over the 1940 period, the increase representing Issuance of more than 9,000 new permits. Also affecting October and period per-iod profits, Mrs. Garner announced, were price increases of 17 to 20 cents per pint of whisky, und 5 cents per quart of wine, which became be-came effective in the state stores on October 1, 1941. Gross sales from July 1 to Oct-Iht Oct-Iht 31 were $1,658,522.42, while the gross sales during October were were $446,771.26. |
