Show Cedar City High School News ELKS CLI B Friday, February 21, the local Elks Club presented a patriotic assembly as-sembly program at the Cedar City high school. Mr. Clarence Lamor-eaux Lamor-eaux was In charge of the program and the following numbers were given: a vocal solo by Idona Smith, a tap dance by Miss Norine Strat-ton, Strat-ton, and a talk entitled "The Heritage Heri-tage of Our Flag," by Dr. Berg-strom. Berg-strom. The program was appreciated appreci-ated and enjoyed by all the students and we take this oportunity to thank the Elks Club for the help and Interest it has given our school. GIRLS' ORGANIZATION On March 21 the girls of the Cedar City high school will hold their annual an-nual 'Girls' Day." Plans are belnj made for the activities that are to take place on that day. There will be a dance revue under the direction direc-tion of Miss Hovey, an all-girls." assembly under the direction of Kar-roll Kar-roll Kearns and a "spinsters' fling." Those students who are working on the committee for the "spinster fling" are: Louise Dix, Corrls Bent-ly, Bent-ly, Yvonne Smith. Dorothy Leigh and Emma Mae Esplln. LYCEUM Monday. February 16, the Music Arts Association presented a program pro-gram at the public school auditorium. auditor-ium. The program was a musical recital given by Ernst Wolff. Mr. Wolff, a baritone, sang the songs in the tongue they were composed in and played his own accompaniment. accompani-ment. HOME ECONOMICS ASSOCIATION MEETING On Saturday, February 22. the southwestern division of the Utah Home Economics Association held its annual meeting In the home making department of the Cedar City high school. There were representatives re-presentatives from Washington, Iron, Millard, Pinto. Kane. Beaver and Garfield counties. The theme of the meeting was "New Books )n the Field of Home Economics." A fine group of recent books was reviewed re-viewed and displayed. After the meeting the visitors were shown through the building. LANDSCAPING PROJECT No. 1032 With the help of N. Y. A. employees, em-ployees, the campus of the high school is rapidly Improving. Last Fall Dr. Laval Morris of the U. S. A. C. drew up a landscaping plan to be carried out around the school bulldng. Since then the boys on N. Y. A. have spaded up the ground, cut down trees and hauled dirt to further the projict. The school has received two or three bids from companies interested in receiving the order for the plants. DANCE REVIEW On March 21 the first dance review re-view sponsored by the Cedar City high school will be presented under the direction of Miss Esther Hovey, director of girls' physical education. The theme of the review will be "Spring Fever." two outstanding dances will be a tango by the sophomores and a ball room dance by the Juniors. i |
