Show Bedford Discusses Americanism At Lions Club Luncheon Americanism was the subject of discussion at the Lions Club meeting meet-ing Monday when Grant Redford of the Branch Agricultural college faculty as the speaker, asked the question, "What Is Americanism?" Stating that with all the present day talk of Americanism, the rush to build an adequate national defense, it is important that everyone every-one stop to ask himself the question, ques-tion, "What Is Americanism," and just what It is that we must defend. Not attempting to answer his own question as a direct statement, state-ment, the speaker discussed many phases of the American way of life, and historical events that have bullded a background for that way of life, and left the listener with many things to think about when considering the all-Important question ques-tion of what Americanism really is and what it means to us. Prior to Mr. Redford's talk, they were entertained by two high school and one college student, Miss Arlene Barlow favoring them with a piano solo, Jay Thorley with a trumpet solo, and Miss Rae Merry -weather with a solo dance. 1 |
