Show American Legion Sponsors Breakfast Honoring Draftees The ten young men filling Iron county's selective service quota for this month were honored at a breakfast at Lunt's Cafe before they left for Salt Lake City to report re-port for duty. Approximately sixty people attended the breakfast, sponsored spon-sored by the Cedar Post of the American Legion, including parents and friends of the boys, and representatives repre-sentatives of various local civic and fraternal organizations. Vergene Simkins, commander of the American Legion Post, acted as master of ceremonies, and called upon club representatives for short talks. Those who responded were E. M. Corry, Chamber of Commerce; Dr. R. F. Farnsworth, Junior Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce; K. L. Jones, Rotary; Ro-tary; Clarence Lamoreaux, Elks; W. H. Bulloch, county commissioners; commission-ers; and Vernal O. Jones, I Jons. Mrs. Blaine Betensen gave a tribute from the American Legion Auxiliary. Auxili-ary. Mrs. Elayne Southwlck led the group in community singing, and a ladies' trio composed of Mrs. Leah Jones, Mrs. Elayne Southwlck and Miss Bee Roberts, accompanied by Mrs. Leathe Prestwlch, sang several numbers. Following the breakfast, the group accompanied the boys to the depot to bid them farewell. The ten young men answering the military call were James M. Barton, Warren D. Hall, Wilson Scott, Henry Mackelprang, Jr., and Thomas Dee Little, Cedar City; Homer W. Adams, Ralph F. Hulet, N. Arthur Mlckelson and Kent W. Mitchell, Parowan; and Carter B. Williams, Kanarra. |
