Show ORV Meetings Held In Two Counties The Bureau of Land Management held meetings in Junction and Richfield, to discuss the off road vehicle designation for the Sevier River Resource Area. Rod Lister, area manager for the resource area, conducted the open house meetings which were sparsely attended. Three people attended at-tended the meeting in Junction and 10 people attended in Richfield. However, those that attended learned that public lands in Piute, Sevier and Sanpete counties would be classified as open for ORV use. Lister announced public lands would be "open for ORV use, but not for abuse." He explained that the planning system required that public lands be monitored to insure proper use, and should abuse be occurring oc-curring then restrictions would be required. One common issue with both meetings was that there was a need to be able to have complete routes from communities to points of interest in-terest and back, without breaks that would require loading and unloading ORV equipment. Lister said, "With public lands being open, there should not be a problem with BLM managed lands." |
